Srinagar, Nov 24: Medical Assistant students today demanded one-time relaxation to all the students in the field who got admission in different Paramedical Colleges before August 5 last year.
The J&K Medical Assistant Association (JKMAA) said that it welcomes the implementation of PCI ACT 1948 in the UT of J&K, but, at the same time, it said that the administration must not neglect 20,000 students who completed or are still enrolled for the Medical Assistant diploma before August 5 last year.
“Now administration should either provide a one-time relaxation to all those students who got admission in different Paramedical Colleges before 5 August 2019 or should come up with a bridge course as per the rules of PCI Act 1948 which will help in securing the future of 20,000 Students,” President, JKMMA Adnan Shafi said.
He said that recently Central Govt amended the J&K Pharmacy Act 2011 and gave relaxation to those who have attained license on the experience basis and who did not possess any qualification. “But unfortunately they neglect 20,000 Medical Assistant Pharmacist students as there is no relaxation for diploma holder students,” he said.
Lamenting the inaction of the Government in this regard, he said that Medical Assistants instead of performing their job to support the society and their family are made to wander on the streets.
“Since last one-year Medical Assistant students who have completed or some are pursuing their diplomas are in depression due to negligence and carelessness of the Government,” he said.
He appealed the LG Manoj Sinha, Financial Commissioner, H&ME Atal Dulloo and other concerned officials to look into the matter at earliest.
