JAMMU, Oct 10: For the fifth consecutive day, students of Mahant Bacchitar Singh Engineering College continued their protest demonstration against the college management demanding reinstatement of Head of the Mechanical Department AK Kaw.
Holding placards and raising slogans, the protesting students took out a march from their college campus towards Satwari Chowk resulting into disruption of vehicular movement there.
They were demanding reinstatement of Prof A K Kaw and increment for other faculty members besides assurance on holding job placement interviews on the campus.
The students alleged that the college management has been charging fee for holding job placement interviews but not a single job placement interview was conducted for recruitment of students.
They also shouted slogans against the college management for wasting precious time and delaying resolution of issues raised by the aggrieved students.
As reported earlier, HoD Mechanical Department AK Kaw had resigned from the post after the college management declined his request on awarding increment to faculty.
Meanwhile, expressing concern over the prevailing unrest among the MBS College engineering students, the president of “Jammu Private Schools & ETT Institutes Association (Progressive), Deep Singh has criticized the alleged deaf and dumb approach of the State Government as well as the Jammu University authorities over the issue.
After paying a subscribed fee for the course, students have all rights of good education from the institute whereas the management of MBS College is unnecessarily adamant on not addressing a genuine demand of students, Deep Singh said in a statement, issued here.
