MBA (International Business) students visit JKEDI

JAMMU, Sept 19: International Centre for Cross Cultural Research and Human Resource Management (ICccR & HRM), University of Jammu, organized a visit of the MBA (International Business) students at Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), Bari Brahmana.
The objective of the visit was to instill an entrepreneurial spirit amongst the students and generate awareness amongst them to pursue innovation and entrepreneurship by creating a vibrant and conducive Startup ecosystem in J&K.
During the visit, an orientation programme was also conducted for the students. The students were encouraged to think of entrepreneurship as a career option and inculcate ‘innovation’ and ‘out of the box thinking’.
Idrees Ahmad Shah, Manager HR, JKEDI , sensitized the students about the role of JKEDI in empowering youth in shaping the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir. He also discussed about the J&K Start Up Policy and the exhaustive mechanism of how the policy acts as a facilitator for the establishment and nurturing of the Start-Ups.
Rayees Manzoor, Faculty/Incharge Incubation, JKEDI, threw light upon three things, passion, skills and resources as the key to shape an entrepreneur. He also provided a glimpse of the employment scenario, education infrastructure and snapshot of the economy of Jammu & Kashmir, to enable the students, understand their opportunities and prospects of growth as entrepreneurs. Few incubatees at JKEDI also discussed the intervention of JKEDI in shaping their entrepreneurial ventures.
Waseem Raja, Incharge, SCFS and Rajesh Kumar, Incharge, NMDFC, JKEDI, talked about the several Government schemes for Start-up promotion as well as assistance. They threw light upon the Seed Capital Fund Scheme, Youth Start-up Loan Scheme, Himayat and National Minorities Development Finance Corporation (NMDFC).
After the workshop, the students were also made to visit the Centre for Incubation, Innovation and Business Modelling (CIIBM) at the JKEDI campus. Professor Deepak Raj Gupta, Director, ICccR & HRM, said that the initiatives like these open up the minds of young and budding entrepreneurs and give them direction in actualizing their ideas . Considering the present scenario of unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir, students must build upon their orientation from job seekers to job providers, he added.
