Mayor takes stock of people’s grievances

JAMMU, July 8: Continuing his drive to provide basic facilities to the people of Jammu city, Chander Mohan Gupta Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today toured in the areas of Gole Market, Apsara Road Gandhi Nagar and other adjoining areas of Ward Number 21 and took stock of the grievances of the residents as well as shopkeepers of these areas.
Bhanu Mahajan, Councilor of Ward Number 21, Pankaj Mangotra, Commissioner JMC, Pardeep Singh Manhas Joint Commissioner (A), Yash Pal Singh, Joint Commissioner (Works), Arun Gupta Xen, Dr Saleem Khan Health Officer, Laxmi Singh Jamwal Xen (E), Anil Gupta and Ashok Sharma, AEEs and other field staff of JMC were also present on the occasion. Besides this, President of Apsara Road Market Association and other representatives also accompanied the Mayor during tour.
The Mayor was apprised about several works to be undertaken including renovation work of the gate at the entrance of Apsara Road may be completed on war footing as the same has already been delayed, SKC’s may be deployed at the Apsara Road Bazaar and its adjoining lanes on routine basis, new street lights may be installed in the market, broken drains/lanes may be repaired and blacktopping of road.
Mayor directed the officers to expedite the remaining renovation work of entrance gate at Apsara Road and resolve other issues on priority basis. He also appealed to the shopkeepers not to display their articles on the main road to avoid traffic congestion and avoid using of polythene which blocks the drains and causes overflow of drains. He also appealed them to cooperate with JMC staff to make their bazaar neat, clean and green.
Later, Mayor also inaugurated Bio Gas Unit and Cow PRK unit at Stray Cattle Pound Dogra Hall Jammu in collaboration with Khadi and Village Industries Commission (J&K) in presence of Vinai Kumar Saxena, Chairman Khadi and Village Industries Commission India, Pankaj Mangotra Commissioner JMC, Dr Zaffar Iqbal Municipal Veterinary Officer, other dignitaries and residents of Dogra Hall.
This is 1st ever bio gas plant in Jammu city, which instantly gave gas connection to 5 households and will produce organic manure too.
After completing installation of Bio Gas Unit at Dogra Hall Stray Cattle Pound, Vinai Kumar Saxena, Chairman Khadi and Village Industries and Mayor JMC planted saplings from By-Pass Narwal to Panama Chowk. The tree guard was also installed around the plants.
The staff members of Village Industries and JMC were also present on the occasion.
