JAMMU, July 5: Continuing his endeavour to provide more and better development and civic amenities to the citizens, Chander Mohan Gupta Mayor JMC alongwith Advocate Purnima Sharma Deputy Mayor, Raj Kumar Chairman Public Health and Sanitation Committee JMC, Hardeep Singh Mankotia Chairman Swachh Bharat Committee JMC, Ajay Gupta Chairman Social Justice Committee JMC and Bhanu Mahajan Councillor Ward Number 21 today laid foundation stone of gymnasium, public library as well as parking facility at Municipality land in Gandhi Nagar.
Ramesh Kumar Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Rahul Yadav Commissioner JMC, Er Rajesh Kumar Sumberia Joint Commissioner (Works) JMC, Er Firdous Ahmed Qazi Executive Engineer Projects Division JMC, Er Amit Kumar AEE (Project), Er Irshan Verma Junior Engineer (Project) as well as other supervisory staff of Engineering Wing and Health Wing of JMC and prominent inhabitants of Gandhi Nagar were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor said that this much needed project has been started at this prestigious site so that senior citizens, children, females and people from all walks of life residing at Gandhi Nagar and its adjoining localities can avail full benefit of library, gymnasium and other allied facilities after its completion.
He further told that the municipal store which exists at this land has already been shifted to Transport Yard Manda so that this vital project which costs Rs 5 crore in the 1st phase can be completed within a time frame of one and half years.
Purnima Sharma, Deputy Mayor while addressing to media persons also apprised that there is a provision of parking of about 30 four wheelers, 40 two wheelers at basement and ground floor while a well furnished gymnasium and library will be commissioned at first floor at this site. Besides this, females, children and old persons can also do physical exercise and avail the benefit of library during their busy schedule to fulfill the slogan “Fit India Hit India”.
Mayor appealed to the general public to come forward and cooperate with JMC and other allied agencies in all the development activities being undertaken in various parts of the city under Capex as well as under Jammu Smart City Projects so that this city can be made really a neat, clean and green city.
