Mayawati questions Modi of his ideologies and promises by his initial decisions

LUCKNOW, May 30:  Bahujan Samaj Party(BSP) supremo Mayawati today questioned the ideology and promises of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his initial decisions on Smriti Irani, meeting with Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif, criminal background ministers and Article 370.
“Mr Modi always had talked about his ideologies and honesty. But what happened when he did the same as the UPA Government by talking to Nawaz Sharif even after saying that talks and terrorism cannot go side by side,” she said.    Ms Mayawati said she has no reservation on the educational qualification of Ms Smriti Irani but how can Mr Modi accept such a leader who has given false affidavits in the election.
“ There are around 30 per cent of the criminal background ministers in the Modi ministry when he had promised during the campaigning to clean the parliament from criminals,” she said while addressing a press conference here.
Without making any party’s view on Article 370, the BSP president said that the BJP should clarify its stand on the issue rather than its leader giving contradictory statements.  “Presently, BJP is just trying to take political mileage and create a deep Hindu-Muslim polarization from the issue without really wanting to do anything on this controversial matter,” she said.
However, Ms Mayawati appreciated the first decision of the Narendra Modi Government to set up the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to bring back black money from foreign countries.
“ It is a good move and the entire black money stashed in foreign banks should be brought back and distributed among the poor to uplift their economic and social status,” she suggested.   Commenting on the Centre’s letter to the State Government to prevent crime against the dalits in UP, she said that such letters have no relevance as commitment of the Centre as well as the state Government was required to end atrocities on the dalits.
“ All the Governments have done politics over the dalit issue and were never serious to end their woes. Now it has to be seen what the new BJP Government really wants to do for the dalits,” she claimed. (UNI)
