The villagers led by a social activists of the area Swarn Singh while addressing press conference here today, alleged that some anti-social elements active in the area in connivance with the land mafia have forcibly grabbed the land by constructing shops and other structures on about 14 Kanals and 6 Marla of Government land under Khasra Number 300 and 307 which has hurt the sentiments of thousands people of Mathwar area.
He pointed out that the Revenue record has clearly shown 10 Kanal pond area and graveyard of children (Shishu Samadhian) on 4 Kanal and 6 marla land since decades. It is unfortunate that their activities of land grabbing are going on unabated under the nose of local Administration. Tehsilsdar, Naib Tehsildar and concerned Patwaris and Girdawars etc. are well aware of the issue as they were told several times about the land grabbing at the village. But no action was witnessed on their part.
Swarn Singh lauded the role of SDM North who has constituted a committee under a Tehsildar to ascertain the facts behind the matter. It has been learnt that Committee was not submitting report to the SDM despite the fact that time given to the committee has lapsed. Some officials who were hand in glove with the Mafia were influencing the Revenue officers. He said a delegation from the village had also met the SDM on July 28 and demanded action in this regard.
Mathwar Block people have sought the immediate intervention of Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Secretary, Arun Mehta and Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Raghav Langhar and stern action against the Revenue officials trying to shield land mafia and retrieve the land grabbed by the anti-social elements.
