KATRA, June 23: Mata Vaishno Devi yatra on new track was suspended after heavy rain triggered landslides near Hemkoti while chopper service also remained shut for fifth consecutive day on Monday.
Officials said that landslide triggered due to heavy rains on new Hemkoti route promoting the concerned authorities to immediately suspend the yatra from new track.
Even as the landslide closed the new track, yatra was smoothly progressing from the old traditional route. However, the battery car service also remained suspended.
Officials said that the men of Shrine Board and machinery were on job to clear the track. No injuries were reported in the landslide incident. Meanwhile, the chopper service from Katra to Sanjhi Chhat also remained suspended due to dense fog. Officials said that the service will resume only after weather turns fair.
