JAMMU, Nov 24: Jammu and Kashmir BJP general secretary and former Minister, Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal has said that a common Kashmiri has no problem with the ruling BJP-led Government. A peace loving Kashmiri is, rather happy now in the changed scenario in the Valley.
Dr. Manyal, while taking strong note of the allegation of Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) president and former Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti that the BJP Government has made life of people in Kashmir difficult, said that the ground realities are entirely different from what the PDP Chief has alleged. He said that the people in Kashmir have suffered a lot due to the proxy war sponsored by neighbour country during long 30 years. The tourism, trade, transport, education, safety and security were badly affected by the militancy, he added.
Dr Manyal said the normal life and day-to-day activities had come to halt and there had been total uncertainty, insecurity among the people in Kashmir during the period of gun culture. Even many leaders of Kashmir-based political parties had fled Kashmir for their own safety, leaving a common Kashmiri at the mercy of God.
Dr. Manyal said that the BJP Government, after coming to power, clearly declared that there would be zero tolerance on terrorism. It took one decision after the other, to end the menace of terrorism, restore peace and normalcy. In many operations against terrorists, a large number of brave Indian soldiers lost their lives. It was most unfortunate that, instead of mourning the martyrdom of soldiers, a handful of leaders in Kashmir expressed sympathies with those who were responsible for deaths and destruction in Kashmir.
“The Kashmiris who have trouble with the BJP Government are actually those who had themselves been the masters of all problems in Valley”, Dr. Manyal said, adding that the common Kashmiri has no problem at all. He said that some people cannot digest and adapt themselves with the changed environment with no stone pelting, normal functioning of schools and colleges, smooth running of business establishments, organizing sports and other events, step rise in tourist inflow etc.
He advised Mehbooba Mufti to act like a responsible politician and desist from making such statements, which only reflects her love for subversive and ultras.
