KARGIL, Apr 7: A massive rally was taken out in main market of Drass demanding district status for the area.
The rally was organized by youth of Drass and it was attended by hundreds of people including Panches, Sarpanches, besides leaders of various religious, trade and youth associations. Various political leaders cutting across party lines also participated in the rally.
Advocate Reyaz, Syed Mohmmad Shah, Ghulam Rasool Nagvi, Abdul Samad, Mubarak Shah Nagvi, Bilal Ahmad and other personalities addressed the rally. In their address, they stressed upon the Government to give separate district status to Drass for development of the town, which otherwise is lagging in terms of development.

The leaders appealed men, women and youth of the Drass to come on a common platform to struggle for separate district status for the area.
Lastly, a meeting was held during which all the leaders and other participants unanimously framed a committee to raise the demand of district status for Drass with the Government.
