KISHTWAR, Apr 24: Drinking water crises in the villages surrounding the town forced the locals to resort to protest demonstration against local administration and PHE Department.
Aggrieved over the situation, hundreds of inhabitants of Kuleed Wassar area blocked the road at Kuleed Chowk raising slogans against PHE and administration following which traffic on Kishtwar-Padder, Kishtwar-Chatroo and Kishtwar-Jammu roads was disrupted for several hours.
The demonstrators alleged that due to water scarcity they have been facing problem for the last six months and despite bringing the issue to the notice of concerned authorities no relief has been provided till date.
“Due to road construction work the supply pipe line for the area is getting damaged everyday and resulting into drinking water crisis”, they said, adding “though alternate supply line from Kishtwar filtration plant to these areas is available but the department is not rooting the supply through this line”.
The protest demonstration came to end only when Executive Engineer reached the spot and issued orders of resumption of supply through the alternate line.
