JAMMU, Apr 22: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla has said that Government was committed to transform the socio-economic condition of the people, adding for the purpose numerous developmental projects and welfare schemes have been launched across the State.
The Minister was interacting with the residents after launching Rs 11 lakh development works in Roop Nagar locality of Digiana, here today.
Mr Bhalla called upon the people to come forward and take maximum benefit of welfare schemes for their economic development. He urged them to protect public property in their respective colonies. He said that massive developmental activities have been launched to provide all basic amenities to the people, including better road connectivity, adequate drinking water, electricity, education, health besides better lanes and drains.
The Minister said that the Government has taken up various projects for the improvement of infrastructure in urban areas which include widening of roads and provision of other facilities.
Mr Bhalla impressed upon the concerned executing agencies to redouble their efforts and accelerate the pace of ongoing projects for timely completion by using quality material.
For improving the power scenario in Gandhi Nagar, Nanak Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Gangyal, Digiana and its adjoining areas, the Minister informed that Government has earmarked Rs 4.78 crore for construction of 133/11 KVA receiving station at Shastri Nagar, adding that the project is under progress and it would be completed within stipulated time. He added that on its completion the power supply scenario in above said areas would improve to a large extent.
He stressed upon the people to pay power tariff regularly and avoid hooking, adding that power theft is crime and people should avoid it.
