JAMMU, Feb 9: People of both Suchetgarh and RS Pura constituencies today held a mass protest at Gandhi Park in RS Pura over merger of Suchetgarh constituency into RS Pura by the J&K Delimitation Commission in its draft report.
The protest was held under the leadership of Choudhary Mohan Singh Samotra. All the protesters strongly opposed the proposal of Delimitation Commission to merge Suchetgarh Constituency in RS Pura. Ex-Rajya Sabha MP Tarlok Singh Bajawa, former Minister Choudhary Garu Ram, Choudhary Manmohan Singh, Sarpanchs/Panchs and several other people participated in the protest.
Choudhary Mohan, while addressing protesters, described the Commission’s draft report as bizarre, saying that people of both RS Pura and Suchetgarh constituencies will not allow any attempt to divide the people of the two constituencies. He expressed concern over the repeated attempts of disempowering the people of Jammu by coming up with atrocious measures one after the other.
Tarlok Singh Bajawa blamed BJP for politically motivated and biased Delimitation Commission’s draft report with an aim to create division in the society. He said that BJP has cheated the people of Jammu again by influencing the draft report of De-limitation Commission which has discriminated against the people of different districts.
Garu Ram, while criticizing the ruling BJP with pursuing anti-poor agenda to protect the interests of big corporate houses, said that Saffron brigade has been exposed before the people. He lashed out at BJP for pursuing oppressive policies to suppress the voice of the youth, women, farmers, and other weaker sections of the society.
