Mashaal rally taken out

JAMMU, Mar 5: In support of their demand of 27% reservation to Other Backward Classes (OBCs), All Jammu and Kashmir OBC Mahasabha, Shakti Nagar-Rajpura unit, took out a Mashaal (torch) rally at Gurha Morh Bakshi Nagar this evening.
The rallyist carrying banners and shouting slogans started the rally from Gurah Morh Bakshi Nagar which passed through main Bazar Shakti Nagar, Rajpura and culminated at Rajpura park.
The speakers demanded full implementation of 27% reservation in the State Government for Mandal Commission identified OBCs in the State. They criticized the State Government for framing Reservation Act-2004 and Reservation Rules vide SRO 294 of 2005 And described them as cruide joke with State OBC castes and communities.
The speakers said that State revenue authorities are demanding old records from the applicants where their caste has been mentioned, while during Maharajas times the OBCs used to be called as Kamins and were not allowed to hold a piece of land. So it was very difficult to produce such a record. They demanded that Government should issue OBC Certificate instead of OSC as a one time certificate.
Those who led the Mashaal rally and addressed included Sansar Chand, Romesh Kumar, Jeet Dhiman, Raj Kumar, Jagdish Raj Pandey, Bansi Lal Choudhary (convenor OBC Mahasabha), Kasturi Lal Basotra, Manohar Lal Tidyal, Vaishno Dutt Dogra and several other leaders of constituents of OBC Mahasabha.
