Martyrs cremated with full military honours

JAMMU, Oct 22: The mortal remains of Lance Naik Ranjeet Kumar, who along with two other colleagues was martyred by Pakistan army near the Line of Control (LoC) in Khour on Sunday, have reached his native village Suligam in district Ramban for last journey while the mortal remains of Havaldar Kaushal Kumar and Rifleman Rajat Kumar were cremated with full Military honours at their natives villages in Nowshera and Pallanwalla this evening.
The mortal remains of martyr, Ranjeet Kumar were brought to his native district Ramban in an Army chopper this afternoon. At the helipad in Chanderkot, his mortal remains were received by the GOC, CIF (Delta), Deputy Commander, 11-Sector, MLA Ramban Neelam Langeh, DC Ramban Showkat Aijaz Bhat, SSP Ramban Anita Sharma, ex-MLA Ashok Kumar, his family members and prominent citizens of Ramban district and martyr’s native village Suligam. They paid floral tributes to the martyr.

From Chanderkot, the mortal remains of the martyr were taken to his native village Suligam in an Army truck decorated with flowers and accompanied by Army officers, The mourners were shouting slogans of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Amar Rahe Shaheed Ranjeet Singh’.
As a mark of respect and to pay their homage to martyr Lance Naik Ranjeet, all the shopkeepers kept their shops and business establishments closed.
The mortal remains of the martyr will be consigned to flames tomorrow with full military honour.
He is survived by mother, father, wife, besides three younger sisters and three brothers. After passing Matriculation from Ramban, he had joined the Indian Army to fulfill his childhood dream in 2002. He had to reach his home today on a two months leave to be with his wife, who is expected to deliver a baby shortly. But the entire family turned shell shocked when their lone bread earner came to home wrapped in tricolor.
While talking to media persons, mother of the martyr termed his son as ‘lion’. “I am proud of my son’s martyrdom. My son fought like ‘Lion’ for country. I have no words to express for him”, she said with teary eyes.
Meanwhile, the mortal remains of Havaldar Kaushal Kumar, reached his home village, Deeng near Seri in Nowshera sub division this afternoon. A large number of people from all walks of life including MLA, Nowshera Ravinder Raina, DC Rajouri Ajaz Ahmed Asad, DIG Rajouri-Poonch Deepak Slathia, ADC, ASP Nowshera, besides several other officers attended the funeral procession of the martyr. He is survived by wife, Naresh Kumari, son studying in class 10th and daughter in class 6th.
The mortal remains of Rifleman, Rajat Kumar Basan reached his home village Pallanwalla in Khour ( Akhnoor) at around 2.30 pm. His body was cremated with full Military honours at his home village at around 5 pm today. Local MLA, Dr Krishan Lal Bhagat, SDM Khour, SDPO Akhnoor and SHO Khour besides people from all walks of life attended his funeral. Rajat was unmarried and belonged to a poor family. He is survived his parents, one sister and one brother. He was serving in the 8 JAKLI for the last about three years and had come home hardly 10 days back.
