Martyrs cremated at Subathu       

SOLAN: The mortal remains of three martyrs of 14th Gorkha Training Centre, who had laid down their life in an encounter with militants, were consigned to flames with full military and State honours at cantonment  town Subathu, today.

Earlier, the bodies of martyrs Havaldar Girish Gurang, Havaldar Damar Bahadur and Rifleman Robin Sharma of 14 Gorkha Regiment were brought in the town from army’s Western Headquarter Chandi Mandir for performing their last rites on the request of the family members.

All the martyrs were residents of districts Kashi and Kolami of Nepal. A pall of gloom descended in the town and its adjoining villages as soon as the news of the martyrdom was reached, here.

The martyrs had laid down their lives  in an encounter with Pakistan backed militants in Naugam sector of Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir after the militants had made sudden assault by putting an ambush. The martyrs had killed four militants during 30 hours long battle before making the supreme sacrifices to the motherland. (AGENCIES)
