JAMMU, Oct 3: Martand Singh, scion of the Dogra Royal Family and Trustee of the Hari Tara Charitable Trust, has extended his greetings to newly appointed BCCI president Mithun Manhas and urged him to initiate long-pending reforms in the Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), where elections were last held in 2016.
In a statement issued today, Singh emphasized that reforms are essential to ensure transparency, accountability and professionalism within JKCA. He said a democratically elected and restructured body would promote merit-based selection, better resource utilization, and wider opportunities for young cricketers across the Union Territory.
Singh also called for the construction of a world-class cricket stadium in J&K, stating that such infrastructure would elevate the standard of local cricket, inspire youth and position the UT as a potential venue for national and international matches.
He added that a modern stadium could become a hub of sports excellence, generate employment, and boost tourism and the local economy. Expressing confidence in Mithun Manhas’s leadership, Singh expressed hope that the aspirations of J&K’s cricketing community would soon be realized.
