SAMBA, Aug 20: MLA Samba Dr D K Manyal has termed the recent murderous attack on him during the cremation of an accident victim on August 16 as a part of a hatched conspiracy to eliminate him.
Talking to reporters here, today, Dr Manyal said that the attack was the handiwork of BJP’s opponents and those elements who are in great desperation after seeing the party becoming stronger and stronger day by day with its total concentration on developmental agenda.
He said under the desperation these vested elements conspired to eliminate him as otherwise there was no reason to attack him during the cremation of the accident victim.
Dr Manyal totally denied the facts that he was not available in the hospital and to the victims of accident on the fateful day and said that he was totally present in the District Hospital Samba from 9-50 am on that day.
The MLA said that he did not only examined the patients and made arrangements for shifting the serious patients to GMC Jammu but also performed stitches on a patient before referring him to GMC.
He said the postmortem of two dead bodies was conducted in the hospital in his presence and when the third was to be brought for the same, he came to know that some people have shifted it to National Highway to protest. “What was the purpose of taking the body to NH and protest there when the entire administration including police officers had reached the spot shifted the injured and dead to the hospital”, he added.
He said the people who were indulging in black mailing and taking bribe from industrialists in the past are now totally perturbed as this practice has stopped since he was elected MLA over two and half years back.
He said after visiting hospital, examining patients and also visiting mortuary to see the dead, he participated in the cremation of one of the accident victims where he was attacked by the people.
Manyal said when he fell on ground some people still tried to pelt stones in him to finish him and had not his PSO promptly come to his rescue he might have been finished.
He said the Police is investigating the matter and the truth will be known to all soon that who were behind the attack.
