Many organizations demand withdrawal of Property Tax

JAMMU, Feb 28: Different organizations here today raised the demand of withdrawal of Property Tax and some of these have even staged protest demonstrations.
Rattan Lal Gupta, NC provincial president Jammu accused the J&K Union Territory Administration of misleading the people on Property Tax issue.
He asked the people not to get misled by false propaganda unleashed by the UT Administration with clarifications being issued on the issue by bureaucrats to befool the public on Property Tax.
Gupta said that it is quite surprising to witness that even the Lt. Governor is making frivolous statements quoting figures and facts that do not match the reality.
AAP leader, Dr. Preeti Bhagat in R.S Pura termed the government decision to levy Property Tax in J&K as dictatorial.
She said that there will be an agitation if the government did not withdrew the decision of levying Property Tax in J&K.
Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray under the leadership of its J&K unit president, Manish Sahni sat on a symbolic hunger strike against the Property Tax being imposed by the government in J&K.
“People of J&K are demanding Statehood but the administration is suppressing their voice with the burden of tax,” Sahni said adding: “Business has collapsed and earnings of the people are decreasing day by day. Financial condition of the public is very bad, after the exorbitant increase in electricity and water bills and the public will not be able to bear the burden of Property Tax.”
Convener of All Party United Morcha, I.D Khajuria; former MP Abdul Rehman; Shri Ram Sena State chief, Rajeev Mahajan; former president of Bar Association, M.K Bhardwaj; Shiv Kumar Sharma, Narinder Kumar from IDP, Sidharth and Ajay Kumar from Sanik Samaj Party along with others also extended support to the protest against Property Tax.
Mission Statehood J&K (MSJK) leader, Sunil Dimple led a protest rally and burnt the effigy of J&K government in protest against the imposition of Property Tax in J&K.
Addressing protesters Dimple said that JMC Mayor, Deputy Mayor and all Councillors should resign in protest against the imposition of Property Tax.
