Manohar lambasts BJP-PDP Govt

KATHUA, June 17: A massive protest rally was organized by Block Congress Committee Billawar under the leadership of Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, former Minister, against the BJP-PDP Government for the creation of a separate District of Billawar, in which a large number of people from different sections of the society including the party workers, youth, women and senior citizens from different villages of Billawar sub-division participated.
The people assembled near the PWD Rest House, Billawar and marched peacefully towards the Sub-Division Magistrate office raising slogans and carrying boards and banners of the BCC which depicted demand of District Billawar and opposed the decision of creation of Additional Dy Commissioner, Basohli.
Dr Sharma while addressing said that the BJP-PDP Government in general and DyCM Dr Nirmal Singh in particular are ignoring the demands of the people of Billawar and favouring Basohli in each and every decision taken by them including the most deserved demand of District for Billawar.
He said that the Billawar Sub- Division has sufficient grounds to be upgraded to a District because Billawar Teshil was upgraded to the level of Sub- Division in 2004-5 and subsequently 5 more Teshils, 8 Blocks and 15 Naibats were created in Sub – Division Billawar in the administrative units created by the previous Government in 2013-14 and Billawar Sub-Division Headquarter is centrally located and has 6 Tehsils, 8 Blocks, 15 Niabats and 2 Treasuries adjoining it whereas Basohli is located at one corner near Himachal Pardesh and Punjab and 40% area of Basohli Teshil is submerged in the Ranjit Sagar Dam and the people have migrated to Kathua, Mahanpur and Billawar. He further said that Basohli has 2 Teshils, 4 Blocks and 5 Niabats.
Dr Sharma, Dr Narinder Vaid, Block President, Congress and Youth Congress leaders along with the gathering submitted a memorandum to the CM through the SDM, Billawar in favour of district status to Billawar.
Dr Sunny Khajuria, Sarpanch Buddhi Singh, Youth Congress Vice President Dalvir Singh Sethi, Master Rashid, Sarpanch Sham Lal Sapolia and Dr Narinder Vaid addressed the rally.
