KATHUA, Oct 4: Minister of State for Fisheries, Cooperatives, Finance and Planning, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma today said that State Government has given top priority to strengthening of infrastructure in education sector and improving road connectivity especially in far off areas of all the three regions of the State.
He was addressing a gathering at the inauguration ceremony of school building in Maruin in tehsil Billawar today.
He said State has topographical difficulties which is one of the hurdle in executing development activities schemes but in spite of all such barriers Government has improved educational and other developmental infrastructure with special emphasis in suburb and rural areas to facilitate students. He said Government has opened avenues of employment in education sector.
While highlighting others initiatives taken by the Government in constructing bridges and roads, Dr Sharma said several landmark projects were completed during the tenure of this Government and several panchayats were connected through roads and bridges, he added.
Dr Sharma also laid foundation stone of bridge over Bambra Nallah estimated to be completed at a cost of Rs 94.40 lakh, work of which will be executed by PWD.
The panchayats representative of Maruin, Kishanpur and nearby areas apprised the minister about their problems and demanded mitigation of the same.
The demands including handpumps, boundary wall and toilet complex for the school. The Sarpanch Kishanpur, Dr Vaid demanded dispensary for the area.
Dr Manohar Lal Sharma assured that the blacktopping of Maruin road will commence soon. He informed that the work of assessment of damages is undergoing in the Tehsil and after the completion of assessment compensation will be given to the affected families.
