Mankotia demands probe in misuse of development funds in Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, June 23: Raising the voice of common man, former MLA and NPP State president Balwant Singh Mankotia has asked the Governor N N Vohra to conduct a high level probe in the alleged misuse of development funds allocated to Udhampur district.
Addressing street rallies at Badola and Maad panchayats of Udhampur district, Mankotia said that Udhampur district is far left behind in development activities in last 3 years and people are facing hardship for basic amenities. He blamed that funds released in last three years for development of Udhampur have been misused which need thorough probe by constituting a high level committee.
“The funds released during three year tenure of the previous Government for Udhampur district under CDFD, Central and State schemes have been gone into the pockets of leaders and officials or diverted to other schemes with violation of prescribed norms”, the NPP leader alleged. He said Government officials and elected representative are accountable to the people, so a through probe should be ordered in the case by the Governor.
Mankotia asked the party workers to start a mass contact programme and aware the people about the misrule of PDP-BJP Government and failure of elected representative of the Udhampur district. He said after pulling out from the Government, BJP leaders are now raising issue of unabated discrimination with Jammu and criticizing the coalition partner PDP with whom they remain partner in the Government for three years.
