Manjit Singh asks parties to shun politics of ‘divide & rule’

Vijaypur, Dec 22: Criticizing the politics of ‘divide and rule’, former Minister and senior Congress leader Manjit Singh today alleged that some political parties were hell bent to disrupt peaceful atmosphere in State by taking up sensitive issues.
Without naming any political party, Manjit Singh in strong words said that the people should be aware of the evil design of such parties which have no faith in ‘humanity and human relations’.
Speaking at a public gathering at village Karpalpur in border town of Vijaypur, the former Minister said some political parties have made the normal life of people difficult with their agenda and unnecessary provocation to the situation.
“We should understand J&K is sensitive State and the politics of creating difference among the communities would be dangerous,” he alleged, while appealing such parties to shun the ‘extremist politics’.
He said that the parties should have people friendly agenda and keep the society united irrespective of any religion, caste, creed or colour.
Stating that Congress has a ‘secular background’ and it was the only party to work for the development and progress of the country as a whole, Manjit Singh appealed people to strengthen the hands of AICC Vice President, Rahul Gandhi, who would lead the next Government in Center.
“Congress has taken many developmental schemes and launched people friendly schemes across the country with which especially poor section which is benefited,” he said.
