SAMBA, Feb 16: Apni Party provincial president, Jammu Manjit Singh today appealed to the Government to frame a comprehensive plan for sustainable development of Vijaypur constituency.
“The lanes, drains, clean drinking water and 24/7 electricity have become a dream for the people of Vijaypur in absence of any plan to develop Vijaypur,” said Manjit Singh.
Manjit Singh was addressing a public meeting organized by vice president, Municipal Committee, Vijaypur, Neelam Kumari.
Speaking on the occasion, the former Minister said that the lanes and drains are underdeveloped and in many areas, they remain choked for days.
“The unconcerned attitude of the authorities have annoyed the people,” said Manjit Singh who was appraised by the locals that the clean drinking water supply remains disrupted and people do not get daily supply of drinking water.
As far as unscheduled power cuts are concerned, he said, the authorities have failed to provide round the clock electricity. “The people have to suffer in absence of basic amenities,” he said.
He said that the condition of roads and unplanned developmental activities has posed serious threat to the future generation of Vijaypur.
The locals demanded that the existing park in Ward Number 9 of Vijaypur should be extended, improvement in facilities at cremation ground, and a separate bathroom for women.
After listening to them, Manjit Singh assured that he will highlight their issues before the concerned authorities for their early redressal.
The meeting was attended by Ex-Chairman Municipal Committee, Vijaypur and Corporator Ward Number 10, Nikki Mahajan, Vijaypur Beopar Mandal, president, Bharat Bushan, Sarpanch Vijaypur Joginder Lal, Panch Birpur Panchayat Babli Devi, Apni Party leader Som Lal, and others.
