JAMMU, Apr 12: Former MP, Shamsher Singh Manhas along with JMC Councillor, Ashok Singh Manhas here today started construction work of tube-well at Ward 60 (Paloura).
Speaking on the occasion Manhas said that few years back during his tenure as MP he released Rs. one crore from his MPLAD fund for the construction of tube-well.
He also talked about conserving and developing a pond in the area to make it a mini lake.
Manhas said that J&K is endowed with extraordinarily diverse and distinctive traditional water bodies found in different parts of the Union Territory.
“These water bodies act as source of drinking water, recharge groundwater, control floods, support biodiversity and provide livelihood opportunities to a large number of people,” he maintained apprising the people about various initiatives taken by PM Modi led Government for the conservation and development of water bodies in Jammu district.
He claimed that Union Government has asked Jammu Smart City Limited to allot works of Rs. 13 crore for the conservation & rejuvenation of water bodies which include ponds at Bantalab, Patoli Brahmana and Upper Barnai.
Mandal Pradhan Muthi-Paloura, Suresh Khajuria; JMC Councillor, Mohinder Bhagat; Ex-Sarpanch, Balbir Singh, Ashok Singh Chib, Joginder Chib, Vineet Manhas, Sushma Manhas, Pankaj Padha, Diwarka Nath and Bishaw Bandhu were also present on the occasion.
