KATHUA, Sept 2: Subash Sharma a senior Congress leader and son of former Deputy Chief Minister, Mangat Ram Sharma today declared that he will join People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and contest elections on PDP ticket from Kathua Assembly Constituency.
Mr Sharma announced his decision to join PDP here today in presence of his father Mangat Ram Sharma and other family members. He alleged that the Congress Party had completely ignored him and his father that forced him leave the Party with which the family had a decades old association.
Justifying the decision of his son, Mangat Ram said that he will campaign for him in the elections. He said for last six years they were being ignored and sidelined by the Party leadership with the result Mr Subash decided to join PDP.
The former Deputy Chief Minister said his son will contest the coming Assembly poll from Kathua on PDP ticket and he will extend full support to him during campaigning.
He said Mr Subash will join Party soon in presence of senior PDP leader.
Former president of J&K Trade Union Congress, Mr Sharma had contested Assembly elections on Congress ticket from Kathua in 1996 and was defeated.
