MANDI, Feb 21: The Tehsil Administration’s apathy and criminal neglect on the part of Power Development Department (PDD) can be gauged from the fact the residents of Mohalla Sheikha, Rajpura of Mandi tehsil are facing darkness for the last about one month as the transformer of the village is lying out of order.
The village comprised of nearly 300 habitants and they are forced to spend their nights in the dark. Imtiaz Sheikh said that a deputation from the Mohalla Sheikha, Rajpura also met AEE, PDD, Sub-Division, Mandi and apprised him about the issue but despite that even the damaged transformer was not removed.
The residents said that the area has been reeling under complete darkness for the last one month and may be more, as the only feeding 63 KV transformer had damaged, which the Power Development Department (PDD) failed to repair or replace despite repeated requests and reminders by the locals and the Sarpanch.
They further alleged that hundreds of rupees are paid through JK Bank as a electric bills every month by the poor people of the area but unfortunately , the PDD has failed to restore the services to the people. No body in the Administration or senior level at PDD takes care of the woes of the suffering public.
The locals of the area requested the DDC Poonch, Rahul Yadav to issue orders to the concerned officials of PDD to restore power supply in the area.
