RAJOURI, June 6: The police arrested a 40-year-old man, a father of two children for the alleged rape of a 22-year -old young woman of village Bhawani in tehsil Nowshera last night.
A police party during raids nabbed the accused identified as Naresh Kumar alias Ghogi (40), son of Baldev Raj, resident of Langar near Nowshera. The newly married woman and wife of an army personnel, Savita (fake name) had gone to Nowshera town yesterday for making some purchases. She also went to the bank and withdrawn Rs 10,000 cash. As she was returning home, Naresh started chasing her. She boarded off the matador and started moving towards her village on foot. On the way, the accused Ghogi caught hold of her at an isolated place and committed rape on her. He also snatched the cash and threatened to eliminate her is she told this to anybody.
When the woman reached home she narrated the matter to her mother-in-law and others in the family. The relatives also reached there after some time. Then they moved to Nowshera police station late in the evening. SHO, Y P Sharma and SDPO Pardeep Singh in swift action sent police parties to trace the accused and nabbed him during mid night from a hideout. The woman was sent for medical examination. A case FIR No. 118/ 2013 was registered against him.
