UDHAMPUR, May 2: A young man was knocked to death by a speeding truck near Samroli in Chenani area on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway this evening.
The deceased has been identified as 34-years-old Rohit Bhardwaj, son of Hans Raj, resident of Champari in Chenani tehsil. The incident took place at around 7.15 pm today when he crossing the road. An unknown truck coming from Srinagar side hit the villager and thrown him away. The truck driver sped away and escaped from the spot along with vehicle.
With serious injuries he was later shifted to District Hospital, Udhampur where he died after some time. The police registered a case and started investigation.
