RAMBAN, Nov 6: A man was killed while his brother got injured when the Ford Figo car they were traveling in skidded off the road and plunged into deep gorge near Shalgaddi area on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, today.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK03D-3385 was on its way to Srinagar from Jammu, when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it landed into deep gorge near Shalgaddi, resulting into on the spot death of one person and injuries to his brother.
After getting information, police team rushed to the spot and started rescue operation with the help of locals.
The injured person identified as Mukhtyar Ahmed of Khanabal, District Anantnag was rescued and shifted to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Banihal, where he was undergoing treatment, when last reports came in.
The body of the deceased identified as Altaf Shah of Khanabal, District Anantnag was also retrieved from the gorge and shifted to morgue of SDH Banihal for autopsy, which will be conducted tomorrow.
“A case under relevant sections has been registered at Banihal Police Station and investigation started to ascertain the cause of the accident”, told SSP Ramban Anita Sharma.
