JAMMU, Aug 23: A man today made an alleged attempt to commit suicide by jumping into River Tawi in this winter capital of the State.
“A man identified as Ajay Kumar (30) son of Hem Raj, resident of House No 94, New Plot, Jammu, this afternoon jumped into River Tawi from the main bridge near Mandir-Masjid point and fell into the shallow waters,” police sources here said.
They said the traffic cops deployed at Dogra Chowk immediately rushed to the spot and rescued the man. “He got some injuries due to fall but his condition is stable,” police said, adding he was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for treatment.
In this connection, a case has been registered at police station Nowabad and investigations started, police further said.
