POONCH, Jan 28: The police arrested a villager under Excise Act and recovered illicit liquor from his possession in Sawjian area of Mandi today.
Official sources said that a police party led by ASI Shakeel Ahmed, during Naka at village Chamber in Tehsil Mandi intercepted a Tata Sumo vehicle bearing Registration No. JK12-3016, and found 14 bottles of illicit liqour inside a bag in the illegal possession of driver of the said vehicle.
On questioning, the driver disclosed his name as Farooq Ahmed, son of Sanaullah, resident of Gagrian, in tehsil Mandi.
In this connection a case has been registered under Excise Act at Police Station Mandi and investigation started.
