RAMBAN, Mar 27: Police arrested a man along with large quantity of illicit liquor pouches from bus stand area here.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Ramban police station laid a naka at bus stand here and intercepted a person.
During checking, police recovered 49 pouches of illicit liquor from the man and arrested him on the spot.
The accused has been identified as Aijaz Ahmed, son of Abdul Rashid Naik of Chamalbas, tehsil Banihal.
He was carrying the illicit liquor pouches to his native village for sale among the people for illegitimate profit.
A case under FIR Number 48/16 under Section 48-A Excise Act has been registered at police station Ramban and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Ramban Inspector Pardeep Sharma made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Mohammad Rafiq Choudhary and SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar.
