JAMMU, May 20: One person was arrested for allegedly killing his wife with an iron rod here in Bishnah area today, police said.
Mohammad Rashid of Village Chua Chak, Bishnah, hit his wife Shamshad Begum with an iron rod several times on her head around 1:15 pm, resulting in on-the-spot death of the woman, they said.
On getting information, a police team reached at the spot and arrested the accused, who tried to harm him as well.
While the body of the deceased has been handed over to her legal heirs after performing the legal formalities, a case under the relevant sections of the law has been registered at Police Station Bishnah and further investigation taken up.
