Man gets one yr jail in cheque bounce case

JAMMU, May 29: Court of Special Municipal Mobile Magistrate Jammu has convicted Ashok Kumar Sharma, son of Paras Ram and sentenced him to one year imprisonment in a cheque bounce case.
The court has also directed him to pay twice the amount of the cheque and in case default of payment of fine amount, the accused shall further undergo the simple imprisonment for one year.
As per the complaint, the complainant was dealing in the manufacture and trading of confectionary items. The accused was the customer of the complainant and was purchasing goods from time to time on credit basis.
The accused has a legal liability to pay Rs 1,88,857 to the complainant for the goods purchased by the accused. In order to discharge his legal liability the accused issued to the complainant a cheque amounting to Rs 1,88,857. However, the bank dishonoured the cheque.
