Man fakes death to reach home

POONCH, Mar 31: In a Bollywood style thriller, a man faked his death to reach home in a remote village of Poonch district along with his three associates, before landing himself in police lockup.
All the four accused , hailing from Saillan village in Surankote, Poonch district, conspired to fake death of one of them in order to reach their native village from Jammu as the lockdown was in place. They had even managed to get death certificate of one of them, namely Hakim Din, from the casualty department of the Government Medical College, Jammu.
“Dead body shifted from GMC hospital to Baflaiz Saillan. In between the crisis of Coronavirus, nobody should not disturb them,” read the letter issued by GMC Jammu, veracity of which could not be confirmed. The letter also mentions name of the driver and number of the ambulance carrying the body.
According to the reports, when the ambulance (PB02CQ-6663) was close to the destination, a police team intercepted it and found the dead man alive. The driver was arrested on the spot while the four civilians were sent for quarantine.
SSP Poonch, Ramesh Angral confirmed the incident and arrest of the driver.
“A case under FIR number 45/2020 under sections 188, 269, 420, 109 IPC has been registered against the accused at Police Station Surankote. The driver along with the four occupants have been sent to quarantine,” said the SSP.
