Man drowns in Tawi

JAMMU, June 6: A man died of drowning in River Tawi in Sidhra area, here today.
According to a police official, a man identified as Raman Kumar (36) son of late Bodh Raj, resident of New Plot, who was a painter by profession, along with two of his friends had gone in Sidhra area to take a bath in River Tawi.
He said Raman inadvertently went into deep waters while taking the bath and was washed away in the river as he did not know swimming. “On getting information of drowning, SDRF team was called which launched a search operation and managed to fish out the body from the river within a short span of time”, he added.
The official said after completing all medico-legal formalities the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites.
