MENDHAR, Oct 7: A mentally unsound man was critically injured after he was crushed under a Tata Sumo in Bus Stand area here late last night.
A police spokesman said that an unknown mentally retarded man was knocked down by Sumo No. JK-12/2364 at local Bus Stand at around 10 pm last night. The driver sensing trouble fled towards Ari along with vehicle. The police Gypsy cops at night patrol noticed the incident and chased the Sumo driver. Near Ari, the driver of Sumo lost control and it was hit against a tree. The running driver of the Sumo, Mohd Waqar, son of Mohd Yunis, resident of Ari was injured seriously. His neck was broken in the accident. He was taken into custody and later shifted to Hospital. He has been referred to GMC Jammu. The police has registered a case of hit and run against him.
