JAMMU, Apr 23: Jourian police arrested a man along with large quantity of illicit liquor.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Jourian Police Post conducted raid in a house and seized 50 litres of lahan, 2 litres of illicit liquor and 15 kilograms of molasses (gurh) and arrested one person, who has been identified as Gurvinderpal Singh.
The arrested person after preparing the illicit liquor was selling it to the general public in his area at exorbitant rates as the wine shops are closed due to the ongoing lockdown and its demand is very high in the market in the present time.
A case under FIR Number 52/2020 under section 48 (a) Excise Act has been registered at Akhnoor Police Station and investigation started.
Police team led by Incharge Jourian Police Post SI Sudesh Goswami made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Akhnoor Inspector Pardeep Sharma, SDPO Akhnoor Ajay Sharma, SP Rural Suram Singh and SSP Jammu Sridhar Patil.
