JAMMU, May 17: Police arrested a man along with large quantity of illicit liquor pouches and bottles from Nirdosh Chowk, falling under the jurisdiction of Akhnoor police station.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Akhnoor police station laid a naka at Nirdosh Chowk and intercepted a man, who was moving under suspicious circumstances.
During checking, police recovered 20 pouches and three bottles illicit liquor from the possession of the man and nabbed him on the spot.
The accused has been identified as Pawan Kumar, son of Taj Ram of Pangari, Tehsil Akhnoor.
He was carrying the illicit liquor to his native village for sale among the people for illegitimate profits.
A case under FIR Number 81/16 under Section 48-A Excise Act has been registered against the bootlegger at police station Akhnoor and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Akhnoor Inspector Pushpinder Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Gurvinder Pal Singh and SP Rural Arun Gupta.
