Sir,
Since many years, we have been finding that the there are uncountable attacks by animals, on human habitation but who is to be blamed for such attacks! Forest cover has been reduced due to excessive population pressure by humans. This in turn has destroyed the habitat of animals. Except providing them a handful of national parks and wildlife sanctuaries, authorities are least concerned for their breathing space, where they can live peacefully.
Whatever farmers, animal protection organisations, legislators, consumers and animal scientists may say about animal welfare, it is no more than human interpretation. No human being can determine whether an animal is happy or not. People differ in their interpretation of what constitutes a good life for an animal.
Recently, two kids from Sarh Village of Reasi district were attacked by a leopard, which triggered panic among the residents of Sarh. In no time, district administration with the help of localities, brutally executed the leopard and clicked pictures as if boasting about their deed, but one must understand the fact that by executing the leopard nothing is going to change. To kill an animal is not a great thing and everyone is depressed by the killings of kids too but at the same time one must understand the fact that the killing of an innocent animal that can’t speak up for itself is totally shocking. The vast majority of public have unequivocal attitude towards the animals. Most of us live in fears instead of preserving them in our wildlife sanctuaries.
The preservation of wildlife is in the hands of stakeholders and it is their moral responsibility to preserve every species in the wildlife, otherwise, the day will definitely come when there will be nothing in our National Park. It is also the responsibility of every individual to understand the fact that animals do need breathing space for their livelihood but when you try to get clever by encroaching forests land or capturing forest land, these developments will always leave you in a big trouble.
