JAMMU, Sept 3: Minister for Higher Education, Labour and Employment Abdul Gani Malik today asked the concerned authorities to expedite the process of land acquisition for construction of new Government degree colleges sanctioned for Jammu division.
The Minister was addressing a meeting of Principals of various degree colleges of Jammu division at Government college for Women Parade today.
Secretary Higher Education Gazanffer Hussain, Special Secretary Higher Education Hemant Kumar Sharma, Director Colleges Prof. Nalni Kohli, Joint Director Planning, Ishfaq Ahmad and Dean College Development Council University of Jammu and officers of R&B and JKPCC attended the meeting.
Mr Malik took a detailed review of the issues pertaining to land acquisition, ongoing works in various colleges, status of construction of new colleges being set up under PMRP, MHRD and UGC funding. He was also apprised of performance and achievements of the institutions and introduction of new courses in the colleges.
The Minister said that land acquisition process is a vital component in implementation and success of any project so need to be tackled in a most efficient manner. He asked the concerned to ensure speedy disposal of all land acquisition issues which are impeding the construction of these colleges. He stressed the need of exploring possibilities for introducing new courses in the colleges having scope in the world of profession.
He said all efforts are being made to improve and upgrade the higher education for students in the state with special focus on far flung areas and unattended areas. In this regard, various new colleges have been set up besides introduction of several new job oriented courses as per need and potential of the students.
