Malhar police arrests 2 for raping minor girl

KATHUA, July 17: The Malhar police today arrested two persons allegedly involved in raping of a minor girl in village Sadrota of Lohai Malhar area in Billawar of Kathua district.
They were identified as Mohammed Iqbal and Babu Din both residents of Sadrota.
A case has been registered under FIR 07/2019 U/S 452, 376 and Section 4 POCSO Act in Police Station Malhar and investigation started in this regard, police said. The duo was put to sustained questioning by the police. The police also got medical examination of the girl conducted and the Investigating Officer recorded the statement of the victim under Section 164 Cr PC before the magistrate.
Police said the duo was arrested after gathering the information from the area.
As per reports the duo had allegedly committed the crime on July 9 when the minor girl was all alone at her residence and her parents had gone out of village. The duo intruded in her house and forcibly outraged her modesty. The girl reported the matter to the Panchayat members.
The accused had warned the family members of the victim of dire consequences if they narrated the matter before the police. The ABVP, Bajrang Dal and other social activists held a demonstration and blocked road in Billawar yesterday protesting against the rape and failure of police to arrest the culprits.
