KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10: Malaysia’s industrial production in August rose 2.3 percent from a year earlier, well below expectations, data from the Statistics Department showed today.
A Reuters poll of 13 economists had forecast factory output grew 7.5 percent, shored up by both export and domestic demand.
The rise in August was the smallest since March, dragged lower by a fall in mining sector production.
Output in July was revised down to 7.6 percent from 7.5 percent previously. (agencies)
