Major, JCO among 3 injured in mine blast on LoC

Another held in Sunjuwan terror attack

JAMMU, Apr 29: A Major and a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) were among three Army personnel injured in a mine blast on the Line of Control (LoC) in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district while police today arrested another person from Tral in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district in connection with Sunjuwan terror attack taking total number of arrests in the case to four.

Three Army personnel were injured in the blast.
They have been identified as Major Gurung, JCO Naib Subedar Dalbir Singh and Havaldar Hukam Singh.
They were immediately evacuated from the spot and shifted to Command Hospital in Udhampur.
Their condition was, however, stated to be stable.
Sources said it was an own mine which exploded on the LoC as soldiers stepped over it. Earlier also, a mine explosion had occurred on the LoC.
Meanwhile, a 55-year-old Pakistani man was arrested along the Line of Control when he crossed into this side of the borderline in Rajouri district today.
Troops guarding the Line of Control (LoC) arrested the man who was moving under suspicious circumstances in forward area of Turkundi.
He has been identified as Mohammad Ali, 54, son of Shah Wali, a resident of Kotli in Pakistan occupied Jammu Kashmir (PoJK).
He was reported to have crossed the LoC inadvertently.
A few Pakistani currency notes and an axe were found in his possession, officials said.
Later, he was handed over to Manjakote police station.
Meanwhile, police have arrested another person from Tral in Pulwama district of South Kashmir in connection with Sunjuwan terror attack.
Arrested person has been identified as Abid Bashir, a resident of Tral.
He is being questioned to ascertain his involvement in the terror attack.
Police have so far arrested three persons in connection with the attack including driver and conductor of a truck, hailing from Kokernag in Anantnag district of South Kashmir, who had transported the militants from border village of Supwal in Samba district to Sunjuwan.
Two fidayeen were killed in five-hour long operation in Sunjuwan on outskirts of Jammu City on April 22, two days ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Jammu. A CISF ASI was martyred and 10 security personnel were injured in the attack.
