Major fire averted at Rly Station shopping complex

JAMMU, Nov 19: A major fire was averted today at shopping complex of Railway Station, Jammu due to timely response of Fire and Emergency Services.
According to a spokesperson of Fire and Emergency Services, today at about 4 PM, the Fire Station Gandhi Nagar received a call that a fire has broken out in two dry fruit shops at first floor of Railway Complex, Railway Station, Jammu.
He said without any delay three fire tenders were rushed to the spot and within half an hour, the flames were doused completely by the fire fighters. “The two shops where the fire broke out, had property worth Rs 50 lakh out of which property worth Rs 4 lakh was partially damaged in the fire while left was saved by the timely response of the Fire and Emergency Services”, he added.
The spokesperson said that the property which gutted partially in the fire includes wooden shells, ceiling, wooden counter, wooden tables and different dry fruits. He said prima facie it appears that the fire occurred due to electric short-circuit in one of the shops.
The whole operation was conducted by a team of fire fighters led by Incharge, Gandhi Nagar Headquarter, Ramesh Pandita, Sub Officer, Sadhanand, under the supervision of Deputy Director, Command, Jammu, RC Raina.
