JAMMU, Oct 12: Police foiled major bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 97 cattle and arresting 13 persons.
As per police sources, a team from Akhnoor Police Station laid a naka at Kotli Tanda and rescued 6 bovine animals from two vehicles bearing registration number JK12A-1989 and JK02AR-8563 and arrested five persons.
The arrested persons have been identified as Mohammad Shakeel, son of Mohammad Ashraf of Uchhad Poonch, Mohammad Taj, son of Mohammad Saleem of Uchhad Poonch, Sunil Kumar, son of Ashok Kumar of Haveli Poonch, Mohammad Farooq, son of Mohammad Khan of Khera Lehar Tehsil Pouni District Reasi and Gain Singh, son of Kartar Singh of Khera Lehar Tehsil Pouni District Reasi.
A case under FIR Number 214/17 under Section 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act has been registered Police Station Akhnoor and investigation started.
Meanwhile, a team from Ramban Police Station rescued 10 bovine animals from a truck bearing registration number JK02AP-6013 and arrested two persons, who have been identified as Mohammad Akram, son of Mohammad Yaquab Gujjar of Reasi and Mohammad Samoom, son of Mohammad Yaquab of Miran Sahib Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 154/17 under Section 188 RPC and 3 PCA has been registered at Police Station Ramban and investigation started.
A team from Chanderkote Police Station rescued 23 bovine animals from a truck bearing number JK02AF-4165, but the smugglers managed to escape.
A case under 54/17 under Section 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act has been registered at Chanderkote Police Station and investigation started.
In another incident, 38 bovine animals were rescued and 5 persons have been arrested by Batote police from two trucks bearing registration numbers JK02AC-9811 and JK04A-9808.
The arrested persons have been identified as Mashooq Ali, son of Allah Noor Gujjar of Upper Ragoora, Murad Ali, son Abdul Gani Gujjar of Patnitop near Amar Chasma, Batote, Manzoor Ahmed, son of Mohd Abrahim of Dolegam, Banihal, Mohammad Farooq, son of Abdul Aziz Gujjar of Gujjar Basti, Talab Tillo and Irfan Ahmed son of Gulam Qadir Mir of Banihal.
A case under FIR Number 71/17 and 72/17 under Sections 188 and 420 RPC and 3 PCA Act has been registered at Batote Police Syation and investigation started.
Ramsu police also rescued 20 bovine animals from a truck bearing registration number JKO2W-9855 and arrested the driver, who has been identified as Latieef, son of Mir Alam, a resident of Khanpora, Nagrota Jammu. A case in this regard has been registered at Ramsu Police Station and investigation started.
