JAMMU, Dec 13: In a petition filed by Dr Anice Chowdhary, Officiating Principal of the Government Medical College, Jammu seeking selection to the post of Principal, State High Court today issued notice to the Government returnable within two weeks and directed that status of the petitioner as on date should be maintained.
In the petition filed through Advocate W S Nargal, the petitioner has sought directions to the respondents to strictly adhere to the Recruitment Rules as envisaged vide SRO 517 coupled with the procedure as envisaged vide Government Order No.1139-GAD of 2004 read with Government Order No.1488-GAD of 2011 and the MCI guidelines, for selection to the post of Principal, Government Medical College, Jammu.
He also sought directions to the respondents to finalize the selection of the petitioner to the post of Principal, GMC Jammu expeditiously by considering his APRs for the last five years with due regard to academic qualification, teaching experience, research experience and publications as envisaged under Rule 8 of the Recruitment Rules, 1979 coupled with the MCI guidelines, which specifically provide that the preference has to be given to the Head of the Departments.
The petitioner further sought the directions of the High Court to the respondents to produce the entire original record of the Establishment-cum-Selection Committee pertaining to the selection to the post of Principal, GMC Jammu to establish the illegalities committed by the Committee time and again to oust the petitioner.
After going through the petition, Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir issued notice to the respondents returnable within two weeks. In the meantime, the present status of the petitioner as on date shall be maintained, the Court ordered.
