Sir,
Ranbir Canal is the lifeline of people associated with the profession of farming and agriculture. Presently the canal is being blocked from its origin i.e Akhnoor and the whole Ranbir Canal along with its distributaries should be cleaned by removing silt from its bed. But very sadly, I have to say that the department of irrigation and flood control has completely failed to save this shrinking Ranbir Canal from the clutches of encroachers. Besides, the process of cleaning should be completed prior to Baisakhi. At present it has become a breeding platform for dreadful flies and insects which will ultimately spread several fatal diseases
