JAMMU, June 30: Pradesh Mahila Congress (PMC) activists today staged a protest demonstration against BJP Govt for its failure to control prices of diesel and petrol in the country.
A large number of women activists of the party led by J&K Mahila Congress president, Indu Pawar (Ex-MLA), assembled at Satwari Chowk in Jammu today and held a strong protest demonstration. They were carrying banners and placards and projecting the public plight with regard to steep hike in the prices of diesel and petrol announced by Modi Government.
While addressing the gathering, Pawar said that the country has already suffered due to lockdown over Coronavirus. Now, when the poor, lower middle class and the middle-class people have lost jobs and suffered massive losses in business, they are being further made to suffer by BJP Government due to regular price hike in the diesel and petrol.
She said Govt has not come up with any statement for raising prices of diesel and petrol which has affected all the sections of society, may it be transportation of essential goods, travel in public and private transport. The rate of crude oil in the international market per barrel is all time low this time, but this steep hike being announced by Modi Govt was surprising, she added.
Pawar said all the inputs ment for farmers i.e. fertilizers, irrigation with diesel pumps are going to show increase in prices and poor/middle class people will be crushed because of regular hike and soaring prices.
Protesters raised slogans against Modi Govt for its wrong policies and appealed to reduce prices of fuel in view of falling international prices of crude oil.
Prominent among others who spoke on the occasion included Vandana Makhnotra, Suman Choudhary, Reeta Kanojia, Asha Motten and Sunita.
